Upper House at Gothia Towers in Gothenburg is a 5-star hotel opposite Liseberg amusement park. In connection with celebrating my 50th birthday, we choose to stay here during a weekend in Gothenburg. Such a treat!
Upper House in Gothenburg
Upper House at Gothia Towers in Gothenburg occupies the top floors 20-25 of tower no. 2. It offers a five star accommodation with award-winning restaurants and fantastic views of Gothenburg. When booking a room directly with Upper house, wi-fi, spa entrance and premium breakfast is always included.
The room
Our room at Upper House at Gothia Towers in Gothenburg is superior. 31sqm on floor 21 with a stunning view over Gothenburg. It has a large double bed with about a hundred pillows, a sofa, an armchair and a table, a desk and a huge closet. The closet hides a minibar, a kettle, cups and glasses, a safety box, an ice bucket. The room has two flat-screen TVs. One would suffice.
The bathroom
The bathroom is large, all in white and has both a huge bathtub and a shower. I love the bath amenities which I think is Upper House’s own product range.
The spa
Three hours in the spa are included when you are a hotel guest. You book your visit when you reserve your room. Non-guests can also book a spa visit, spa packages and treatments. The spa reception is located on the 20th floor and the pool area on the 19th. In the relax area on the 18th floor, they serve fruit and drinks.
The spa has three pools. A soft pool, a jet stream pool and a glass-bottomed outdoor pool. It has an experience shower, a Hamam, dry and steam saunas and a large sauna with panoramic views. The only thing we miss is a jacuzzi and more hangers for the bathrobes.
The glass-bottomed outdoor pool is heated and has seating for you to enjoy the spectacular views of Gothenburg and Liseberg in particular.
The food
Restaurant Heaven 23 in Gothia Towers is famous for its King Size Deluxe (shrimp sandwich). We order it from the excellent room service. They bring a complimentary bottle of champagne to our room as it is my 50th birthday! Very appreciated.
The breakfast
The breakfast comes with fantastic views from the top floor. Upper House offers a small buffet with freshly baked bread, a selection of cheeses & cured meats, vegetables, homemade muesli, fruit, yoghurt, juice and homemade pastries.
You can also order from an à la carte menu of seasonal dishes with meals prepared from scratch. It is overall a highly sophisticated and enjoyable breakfast. With a porridge to die for. Now, there’s a sentence I’d never thought I say!
The summary
Upper House is luxurious and well maintained with excellent service. Don’t miss the spa! The hotel is, however, a bit far from the city centre and the surroundings are not so beautiful. Luckily, you see beyond that from the top floor.
